Welcome
Desert Wind Private Guest and Game Farm is situated in The Klein Karoo (Little Karoo) between majestic mountains, treeless plains and spectacular landscapes. The area features quaint wine producing and fruit growing towns, towering cliffs, clear, crisp rivers and zig-zagging passes. Our farm runs on solar power and gas energy.
Our Accommodation
Gemsbok House
Desert Wind caters superbly for families or large groups of friends. The large guest house can accommodate a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 people in the 3 rooms. The house is generous in size and has beautiful tile floors, stone work and a wood fired hottub.
Eland House
This open plan en-suite guesthouse consists of 1 double bed & 2 single beds, a fireplace, fully stocked kitchenette and lounge area. The “house” is connected to the Gemsbok House via a passage and can be incorporated into the house as an additional room to sleep 14 in total.
Die Kliphuis
Die “Kliphuis” is a quaint little cottage built out of the river rocks of Desert Wind and is ideal for the honeymoon couple. The cottage can accommodate 4 people. The house is equipped with a double bed and a double daybed. There is an inside and outside braai that overlooks the river.
Springbok Suite
Our two semi detached king suites are suited to couples looking for a quiet romantic retreat. The suites – located next to the boma – offer stunning mountain and bush views. Luxuriously decorated, each has a kitchenette, king size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet.
Zebra Suite

HIKING
Enjoy the magnificent Little Karoo scenery whilst traversing any one of our several hiking trails.
GAME VIEWING
We have a wonderful collection of wildlife such as Eland, Springbok, Zebra, Gemsbok, Klipspringer and Grey Rhebuck. The watering hole is accessible by foot and car.
4x4 ROUTES
Get off the beaten track and traverse one of our specialised 4x4 trails. Ideal for those who enjoy unforgettable adventure, you are welcome to use your own 4x4 vehicle.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
Bring along your mountain bike for some great off-road fun and single track adventure.
Highlights
UNPLUG
Go off the grid as there is no internet or cell phone reception at Desert Wind. If needed, there is a WiFi hotspot at the reception office.
ECO FRIENDLY
Gas and solar power ensure comfort with no need for noisy generators.
UNIQUE
Picnic areas by the gorge make for special dining experiences. There is a braai boma close to the Kliphuis.
KAROO SKY
This is big sky country, enjoy endless horizons and the spectacular milky way!
SHOP
We have a small shop (cash only) that stocks basic foodstuffs such as ice, milk, coffee, pasta and tinned foods. Firelighters and wood are also available.
WOOD-FIRED HOT TUBS
We have wood-fired hot tubs for hire on a first-come, first-served basis. Please enquire at reception.
